The Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society has worked with the Homer Laughlin China Company., one of the oldest and most famous producers of hotel and railroad dining car china, to reproduce the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western’s “Phoebe Snow” pattern dining car china.
This pattern was introduced by the Lackawanna in 1949 to coincide with the inauguration of their new premiere train, The Phoebe Snow, and was in use until around 1960.
This reissue of this pattern represents a faithful reproduction of the originals, with a special reproduction marking on the back. These pieces will be a very limited issue, sure to be a keepsake and a collectible in their own right. All the proceeds from this china will be used towards the restoration of Lackawanna Dining Car 469.
This placesetting includes one each of the 8-3/4" dinner plate, 5-1/2" plate, 5-1/4" vegetable dish, coffee cup and saucer.
All pieces are back-stamped with “ELDCPS” and the date to avoid any confusion with the originals.
We expect to begin delivery of this china in mid-June 2011.
Note: These reproductions of the Phoebe Snow pattern coffee cups differ from the originals with their "The Route of Phoebe Snow" printing. The originals did not have any lettering printed on them. The vegetable dish and 5-1/2" plate do not have any lettering on them as per the originals.
